For our big non-Asian holiday this year, we are going to Europe again. We will be flying into Milan on the 3rd of June and flying back to Australia on the 13th of July (Arriving back in Perth on the 15th). Milan is simply a hub for us; we won’t be holidaying in and around Milan. I’m too sexy for Milan anyway, and New York, and Japan.
From Milan, we will be flying over to Portugal to visit a few places, then Spain, then a Mediterranean island, then England to visit family. That’s loosely our intention; a growing and evolving itinerary can be viewed by clicking on the Europe Map below.

The last European trip involved a lot of Germany and some of Holland. In the past, we’ve also done a lot of Italy and France. We’ve done Spain and Portugal before, but mainly from cruises and so that has been restricted to the coastal areas. This year, we wanted to do more of the inland areas of Spain and a big draw card for me was Porto – as I had really fancied cruising up the Douro River.
We will repeat our trip to the UK, despite the unnecessary expense of having to renew (and in Judith’s case obtain for the first time) our UK passports, instead of simply visiting using our antipodean passports. I know I’m moaning, and I know that there are some people in the world that would give their eye teeth for a UK passport but combined we’ve paid over $500 just for a pass to visit family for the week. It’s a cash grab and I don’t like it. Still, the beer’s cheap.

You always manage to put a smile on my face when I read your blogs. Love the detail (click map to see itinerary, wow!) Enjoy the trip 😉
Thanks Marlene. I’m looking forward to writing more on this trip.
Great , have a great trip . 😉
Maybe we’ll see each other, we are in Turkey now, we hope you can fly, the kerosene is running out.
That would be great! Yes, we have seen a small surge in air fares because of the oil prices, as airlines try to manage their consumption of avtur. But we had already booked the big flight to/from Europe back in December ’25 so at least that portion wasn’t hiked up in price.
Great itinerary guys! Sure you will love Porto and the Douro valley, the scenery on the railway line is spectacular! Enjoy yourselves
Yes, that’s the bit I’m looking forward to the most. And the odd glass or port, naturally.
Have a great time you two, enjoy spending time with the family,
Safe travels… 💙💚. Too sexy for Milan?

Hey Steve, when are you both in the UK? I have a feeling it’s when we’re all on our jollies, so we’ll end up
missing you again! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that we can arrange a family get together x
Hey Steph, if you click on the map of Europe, the full nine yards are there. We fly into blighty on the 4th of July and fly out on the 9th. An American once asked me whether they have a fourth of July in England. Well yes, it comes right after the third.
If you get over there now you might just catch summer, I hear it’s early this year – 30 deg all this week in London than back to normal.
30 degrees! That’s 86 degrees Fahrenheit according to NASA! Phew what a scorcher – but I’m not sure we’ll catch those heady temps as we get there early July and that’s the start of winter in the UK.
Looks like a great trip Steven, I’m road the beer is cheap as they are saving $& on refrigeration costs in the motherland
Haha warm beer and cold pies, bring it on.
