The latest blog

I had a blog. It was dedicated to our last project, building a new house. But once the house was built, we didn’t like it – so we decided to sell it on. It’s called ‘flipping’ amongst the more modern of us. But in the process of selling the house, I reviewed a lot of my previous posts, which were quite negative towards our plonker of a builder. Such negativity could potentially discourage any would-be buyer, and so I closed that blog down.

I suddenly found myself without a blog. And me, with lots of time on my hands. I could either use that time to bore the people around me, or get a new ‘creative outlet’ and bore many more. This blog is the result of the latter. Sorry.

Why is it called Spaghetti.blog? Well, because my blogger name had been taken ages ago, and so had all the other cool travel or foodie blog names. I found spaghetti.blog by chance, and thought “well, that’s easy to remember”. I bet you’ve remembered it already. So I grabbed the domain name and bought some hosting. A quick WordPress installation later, and we’re up and running.

It’s not called spaghetti.blog because I’m a Pastafarianist. I do admire the sentiment of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion, but I’m not really the deity-worshipping type; I just don’t have the energy for the supernatural. Well, I say “the sentiment”, but actually I mean the parody on religion generally. Instead, the blog is really about me, and a life mostly wasted with Judith, while I wear out the path on the coil that will ultimately spiral into a terminal oblivion.

It’s about our travels (we do travel a fair bit), my life observations (don’t worry, I’m not a yorkshireman), and also about food (I love cooking). Judith tells me I’m obsessed with food, but I think I’m more obsessed about the process and joy of feeding us, or family, or friends, rather than being obsessed with eating. Although, I do love a good meal and good meals do love my waistline.
